Drywood Termite Treatment in Parrish, FL
Most Parrish drywood termite work is in older farmhouses, barns and sheds, not in the block-and-slab subdivisions. We confirm the species first, treat the galleries we can reach, and refer whole-structure fumigation to a licensed fumigation company.

Drywood Termite Treatment in Parrish: Identify the Species, Treat the Reachable Wood, Refer the Rest
Small heaps of hard, six-sided pellets below a windowsill in an older Parrish farmhouse are what usually send an owner searching for drywood termite treatment near me. Parrish Pest Control starts with an inspection that settles which termite you have, drywood or subterranean, then treats every colony within reach. If the activity runs through the whole building, we say so, explain why, and hand the job to a licensed fumigation company. Call (941) 253-5279 to set up a free inspection.
Parrish drywood calls follow the age of the building. The farmhouses, barns and sheds along US 301, Erie Road and the roads toward the Manatee River have decades-old wood, much of it unpainted, where drywood colonies (and sometimes dampwood termites in the wetter spots) take hold. North River Ranch, Silverleaf, Harrison Ranch and the other subdivisions built on former pasture are mostly block on slab, so subterranean termites are the bigger worry there; even so, every one of those homes has wood roof framing, fascia and trim, and a drywood swarm can settle in it. We identify the species, map where the activity is, and recommend spot treatment or a fumigation referral from what we actually find.
Two Termites That Need Two Different Treatments
The inspection settles the species first, because the treatments do not overlap.
Drywood termites stay inside dry, sound wood for their whole lives and have no link to the ground. The clue is a small heap of hard, six-sided pellets on the surface below the infested board. Colonies we can reach get spot treatment; activity throughout the building means fumigation.
Subterranean termites keep their colony in the soil and climb into the house inside mud tubes on stem walls, slab edges and piers. The fix is a liquid treatment of the soil or a bait system around the house; a tent does nothing for them, because the colony is outside it in the ground. That is a different service from the drywood work on this page.
Coarse brown grit that keeps reappearing in the same spot after you clean it up is often drywood frass, but it is not proof by itself: pellets, swarmers and damaged wood can each come from more than one cause, so the technician looks before naming the pest. Take a clear photo, or save a spoonful of the grit in a sealed bag, and have it ready when you call.
Spot Treatment or a Fumigation Referral
Spot treatment, our work. The fit when the termites are in wood we can get at: a window frame, a door jamb, a strip of trim, one joist, a barn post, a piece of furniture. The technician drills small holes into the galleries and fills them with a labeled termiticide foam or an orange-oil product; unfinished, unpainted wood can also get a borate. Nobody has to move out, and the price is a fraction of a fumigation. The catch is that it kills only the colonies we know about.
Whole-structure fumigation, a referral. The fit when the inspection turns up activity in many rooms or framing members, across the attic, or behind finishes no one can open. Parrish Pest Control does not fumigate, so that job goes to a licensed fumigation company we refer you to.
Drywood colonies are usually well established by the time pellets show up, and the one you found may not be the only one. So before we recommend spot treatment, the nearby wood and the attic are checked, and if more colonies look likely we tell you that plainly.
If the House Has to Be Tented
The fumigation company manages the job and gives you its own prep list. Broadly:
- Before the tent goes up. Residents, pets and houseplants move out. Food and medicine either leave with you or go into the sealed bags the fumigator supplies.
- Under the tent. The crew tarps the building and releases the fumigant, which penetrates all of the wood.
- Clearing. The tarps are removed, the house is ventilated, and the air is tested. You return only after the readings clear.
The job usually takes a few days; the fumigation company sets the schedule. Fumigation leaves no residue to stop the next swarm, so a borate treatment on bare attic framing afterward is worth asking about.
Paperwork for a Closing
A drywood finding on a WDO report for a Parrish sale usually brings a request from the lender or the title company for proof that the problem was treated. After our treatment we write down which termite it was, which areas were treated, what product was used and on what date, and we can email that record to the title company and both agents. When a house is tented, the fumigation company issues the treatment record. Need the WDO report itself? Florida WDO inspections on Form 13645 are part of our work in Parrish.
What It Costs
Spot treatment is quoted once the inspection is done. The price follows how many places need treating and how awkward they are to get at. A fumigation price comes from the fumigation company, which generally charges by the cubic footage of the house and runs well above spot treatment. The inspection costs nothing, and you come away knowing which route suits your house.
How Parrish Pest Control Works a Drywood Call
Our first question is how much damage there is: how far the galleries run, whether any member has lost strength, and what the lightest treatment is that still does the job. Parrish routes run Monday through Saturday, from the Fort Hamer Bridge to the ranch roads along State Road 62. Call (941) 253-5279 or email [email protected].
